Biography
Born and raised in Montgomery County, Maryland, Dr. Bassin graduated from Walt Whitman High School en route to Washington University in St. Louis, where he received his undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering. He went on to medical school at Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C. followed by a residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a Harvard University teaching hospital. His education continued at Yale University where he served as a fellow in Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
Throughout his career, Dr. Bassin has been fortunate enough to work in many Veterans Administration hospitals. In addition, while working in Puerto Rico, he learned to speak Spanish at an intermediate level. His life came full circle when, in 2003, he returned to the Washington area to care for his fellow Washingtonians.
Dr. Bassin enjoys spending time with his wife, Dr. Veronica DiFresco and two children. When free time allows, Dr. Bassin can be found running the trails of the C & O Canal or training in Rock Creek Park for an upcoming triathlon or marathon.
