Dr. Lawrence Colon Cancer

Colon cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States, but early detection can prevent cancer in 90% of cases. It is important to undergo a colonoscopy because in the majority of colon cancer patients show no symptoms. The purpose of a colonoscopy is to screen for colon polyps before they turn into cancer. Everyone should be screened for colon cancer at age 50, and African-Americans should be screened at age 45.
