Tips for Preventing Heartburn this Thanksgiving

Don’t let your big holiday dinner make you less than thankful because of heartburn. As you can probably imagine heartburn can ruin an otherwise pleasant gathering, so stop it before it starts.

​ Heartburn, a common symptom of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), can be triggered by consuming certain foods and beverages or by overeating. But a few simple tips could help you avoid the pain of heartburn by letting you know what to do before, during and after the big feast.

These suggestions should help ease the discomfort caused by overindulging during Thanksgiving dinner, but anyone who suffers from heartburn on a regular basis should see a doctor. Recurring heartburn can lead to a pre-cancerous condition which can become esophageal cancer. ​
