Capital Digestive Care has announced that Arnold G. Levy, MD will retire as Chief Executive Officer on March 31, 2017.  The company’s board of directors has elected Michael L. Weinstein, MD to be its next Chief Executive Officer, effective April 1, 2017.  Dr. Weinstein currently serves as Capital Digestive Care’s Vice President.

Dr. Levy has served as president and CEO, while maintaining his medical practice, since the company’s inception in 2009.  Under Dr. Levy’s leadership, the architecture of Capital Digestive Care has grown exponentially from its early stages.  Today it is the largest specialty GI practice in the Mid-Atlantic states and one of the largest in the country.  The company’s integrated health care model connects patients with the largest clinical research program of its kind in the region and a specialized pathology laboratory.  Dr. Levy says he expects the legacy of excellence to continue, “This is a remarkable company made up of physicians and employees dedicated to providing exceptional patient care.  Dr. Weinstein knows exactly where the company needs to go and how to lead the way.”

As the Vice President of Capital Digestive Care since 2009, Dr. Weinstein has been an ever present leader and advisor throughout the company’s history.  In addition to maintaining a demanding clinical schedule, he also represents physicians across the medical, political and regulatory landscapes as the Vice Chairman of the Digestive Health Physicians Association (DHPA), the national trade association advocate for private practice physicians in the specialty of gastroenterology which Capital Digestive Care helped to establish in 2014.

Citing quality patient care as a top priority, Dr. Weinstein says, “Today’s healthcare environment demands that we provide exceptional care consistent with our goals to improve patient outcomes while reducing the cost associated with the delivery of quality care. Capital Digestive Care is uniquely positioned to achieve that balance, leading to better care for our patients and greater value for the healthcare system.”  Dr. Weinstein also maintains an academic appointment as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
