Capital Digestive Physician Soorya N. Aggarwal, DO

Soorya N. Aggarwal, DO

Biography

Dr. Soorya Aggarwal was inspired to go into medicine because it enables her to translate her connection with her patients into making a real-time difference in their lives. By truly listening to her patients’ concerns, she can help them find solutions and be their advocate when a treatment is not readily available.

Today, as a board-certified, fellowship-trained gastroenterologist, Dr. Aggarwal is passionate about making a difference for her patients and their families. She is comfortable working within all areas of gastroenterology, and she has particular interest in the following conditions:

  • – General GI care
  • – Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
  • – Liver conditions
  • – Esophageal disorders
  • – Motility disorders

After graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond with a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering, Dr. Aggarwal earned her medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, CA. She completed her residency training at Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown, PA, followed by a fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC. During her final fellowship year, she served as chief gastroenterology and hepatology fellow at Georgetown.

“My approach to patient care is patient centered with evidence-based delivery. As GI disorders are intimately tied to the rest of the body, I will often think outside the box to determine a cause for a patient’s symptoms,” Dr. Aggarwal said.

Before joining Capital Digestive Care, Dr. Aggarwal was a gastroenterology and hepatology fellow at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC. She has authored more than 40 publications and abstracts so far in her career.

Dr. Aggarwal has lived in the DC metropolitan area most of her life. She currently lives in Bethesda with her husband and two daughters, as well as her cockapoo, Zeus.
