Dr. Philippou is a board-certified, fellowship-trained gastroenterologist who finds the experience of forming relationships with patients through their illness journeys, and ultimately seeing them improve, to be the most rewarding aspect of her work.
Dr. Philippou has particular interest in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) as well as a love of general gastroenterology, including gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and liver disease. She has conducted research on IBD as well as other common GI disorders, such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. She was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society in medical school, where she graduated with distinction in clinical research. She speaks both English and Spanish.
Dr. Philippou’s hobbies outside of work include running, traveling, and spending time with friends and her husband, who is a urologist in Norfolk, VA.
