Biography
Dr. Michael Ryan is a board-certified, fellowship-trained gastroenterologist and transplant hepatologist.
After graduating summa cum laude from Fordham University, Dr. Ryan completed his medical degree at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He completed residency training at Johns Hopkins, followed by a fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at Yale New Haven Hospital. Dr. Ryan is a fellow of the American College of Physicians.
In addition to his gastroenterology and hepatology practice, Dr. Ryan is a professor of clinical internal medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA. He has been named to many regional and national “top doctors” lists and has won multiple awards for excellence in teaching. He serves as principal investigator in multiple clinical trials for nonalcoholic steatohepatitis, hepatocellular carcinoma, primary biliary cirrhosis, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C. Dr. Ryan also sits on the editorial board of Gastro Hep Advances.
