Biography
As the daughter of a physician assistant (PA), Meagan LeMaster, PA-C, grew up watching her mother interact with her patients and seeing the relationships she formed with them. The ability to combine science, problem solving, and creating meaningful interactions with patients inspired Meagan to pursue the same career.
Today, Meagan is a PA who has been in practice since 2012. She is passionate about preventive medicine and helping patients achieve a better quality of life. Meagan is dedicated to educating her patients. She knows that if people understand why a medicine or procedure is prescribed and what it is going to do or achieve, then they are more likely to follow through with the treatment plan. She also enjoys incorporating a focus on exercise and nutrition into her work with patients.
Meagan graduated magna cum laude from Florida State University with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science. She went on to earn her master’s degree in clinical medical science – physician assistant from Barry University in Miami Shores, FL. Before joining Capital Digestive Care, Meagan worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings caring for patients with complex cardiovascular disease as a PA at First Coast Cardiovascular Institute in Jacksonville, FL. Prior to that, she worked in a pediatric and adult endocrinology practice in Texas.
“I think the best thing we can do as providers is listen to our patients – really take the time to hear their concerns and understand their lifestyles. Every patient’s care is different, and there isn’t a cut-and-dried template that works for everyone,” Meagan said. “My process starts with listening to people, understanding the specific challenges they face, and then building a plan together to treat their GI issues.”
Meagan is a native Floridian who has managed to live in almost every corner of the U.S. since graduating PA school. Her husband is a pilot in the U.S. Navy, and they share two beautiful, vivacious little girls. Her favorite season is football season. She and her family are very excited to explore all the Tidewater region has to offer.
