Born and raised in South Jersey, Kelly Mercado enlisted in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman and completed her training at Hospital Corps School, NavaI School of Health Science in Great Lakes, Illinois.
Following her training, Ms. Mercado was stationed at National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. During her 5 years of active-duty service, she spent two years in the Mother Infant Care Center followed by service in Protocol, where she coordinated specialty appointments and escorted members of the United States House of Representatives and Senate around the hospital. Following her military service, Ms. Mercado obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from University of Maryland. She worked in the Endoscopic Surgical Centre of Maryland, North for four years prior to returning to University of Maryland to pursue her Master of Science in Nursing, concentrating in the field of Family Nurse Practitioner. She feels her eight years of endoscopy experience greatly benefits her patients. During that time, she has had significant exposure to multiple GI related issues and has developed the ability to deal with variety of GI problems.
Ms. Mercado resides in the Germantown area with her husband and two beautiful children.
