Biography
A Maryland native, Dr. Jeffrey Y. Kim graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in Biology before earning his medical degree at Ross University School of Medicine. Dr. Kim went on to complete his residency in internal medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After obtaining a board certification in internal medicine, Dr. Kim completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC.
Dr. Kim was inspired to pursue medicine by his family. His father is also a gastroenterologist with Capital Digestive Care, and his grandfather was the acting Chief Medical Examiner in Washington, DC, for nearly a decade. Dr. Kim and his father have gone on medical mission trips to Mexico and South America to provide medical services to their underserved communities.
Dr. Kim’s approach to patient care is team-oriented, goal-directed, and compassionate. He makes it a priority to first listen to his patients and then develop treatment plans together.
Dr. Kim specializes in a vast range of digestive diseases with a special interest in GERD, eosinophilic esophagitis, Barrett’s esophagus, inflammatory bowel disease, celiac disease, gastric intestinal metaplasia, microscopic colitis, and colon cancer screening.
In his spare time, Dr. Kim enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and sports.
