George H. Pop, MD

Biography

Dr. Pop was born in Romania. He received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Florida International University in 2004 and medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine in 2008.

He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. Following this he completed a three-year fellowship in Gastroenterology at Mt Sinai St Luke’s Roosevelt in New York City.

As an integrated part of his gastroenterology training, Dr Pop completed a 6-month liver transplantation fellowship at Mt Sinai’s Institute for Liver Transplantation in New York City.

Dr. Pop is a member of the American Gastroenterological Society, American College of Gastroenterology, American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, American Neurogastroenterology and Motility Society, and the American College of Physicians. His clinical interests include colon cancer prevention, general gastroenterology, hepatology, and gastrointestinal motility disorders.

Dr. Pop joined Gastroenterology, Ltd. in 2014. He and his wife, Aurora (a family physician in Virginia Beach), have three children. He is an avid soccer fan, enjoys playing tennis and running.
