Biography
Debra Barnes, FNP-BC is a board-certified family nurse practitioner (FNP) with seven years of experience providing innovative practice and strategic healthcare solutions. Her practice is centered around patient- and family-empowered healthcare. She is particularly interested in colon cancer prevention.
Debra earned her bachelor of science in nursing and her master of science in nursing with a family nurse practitioner specialization from the University of Texas at El Paso. Before joining Capital Digestive Care, Debra worked as a registered nurse in a hospital setting, including work in heart and vascular, ICU, trauma ICU, medical-surgical, and orthopedic areas. She also spent time as a travel nurse.
“I like to provide my patients with emotional support as well as physical comfort to the best of my abilities. I coordinate with other providers, if possible, to give patients the best level of care,” Debra said.
Debra is married with two children. She enjoys traveling, likes to read about health, and is a lifelong learner.
