Biography

Dr. Alex Williams is a board-certified, fellowship-trained gastroenterologist and endoscopist. He takes a compassionate approach to patient care. He has particular interest in the following conditions and procedures:  

  • Colorectal cancer 
  • Colon cancer screening 
  • Occult GI bleeding 
  • M2A capsule 
  • Hepatology 
  • ERCP 

Dr. Williams is an experienced and accomplished gastroenterologist who studied in Africa, England, and the United States. He completed his undergraduate study at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, West Africa, where he also earned his medical degree. He then earned an MSc in the College of Medicine at University of Newcastle Upon Tyne in England.  He completed his residency training at the University of Connecticut, followed by a fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of Virginia.  

Dr. Williams serves as an assistant professor of clinical internal medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA, where he helps to train the next generation of physicians. He is a member of the Royal College of Physicians in the United Kingdom.  

When he is not at work, Dr. Williams enjoys watching basketball at all levels.
