Capital Digestive Care is pleased to announce the addition of Ryan Tomaino, MPA, PA-C, to our Harbour View and Madison Building offices in Suffolk, VA. Ryan was inspired to become a healthcare provider because he wanted to make a tangible difference in people’s health and well-being. He believes that everyone has a responsibility to help make the world a better place, and practicing medicine is one of the ways he fulfills that call.
Ryan is a certified physician assistant who considers it a privilege to collaborate with patients throughout their healthcare journeys and appreciates how evidence-based medicine can positively impact their lives. He provides general gastroenterology (GI) care.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in health services management from the University of Maryland Global Campus. He then earned a master’s in physician assistant at Eastern Virginia Medical School.
“My approach to patient care is characterized by compassion and a commitment to ensuring that patients feel heard and valued. It’s rooted in empathy, interdisciplinary teamwork, and evidence-based medicine to optimize outcomes,” he said. “I believe in caring for the whole person, not just the illness, by building a partnership with patients and encouraging them to take an active role in their health.”
Before joining Capital Digestive Care, Ryan served in the United States Navy, both at home and abroad. He welcomes the opportunity to support our nation’s military community. He has also given nearly 700 hours of volunteer service to multiple military and non-governmental organizations since 2007.
Ryan resides in Hampton Roads, VA, with his wife and their two cats. In his free time, he enjoys listening to music, scuba diving, snowboarding, playing golf, traveling to new places, and creating lasting memories with his family.
