Capital Digestive Care is pleased to announce the addition of Joyce Song, PA-C to our Germantown, Olney, and Rockville offices. Her journey to becoming a physician assistant was inspired by her passion for community service while growing up in the Baltimore area. During time spent volunteering at local hospitals, she developed a love for science alongside the humanity of patient care.
Today, Joyce is a certified physician assistant who focuses on building long-term relationships with patients, grounded in trust and understanding. She provides general gastroenterology (GI) care and enjoys educating patients on diet and lifestyle modifications for chronic GI conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), celiac disease, and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) for long-term symptom management and cancer prevention.
Joyce earned her bachelor’s degree in environmental science and policy from the University of Maryland, College Park. She then attended Duke University’s physician assistant program, earning a master’s degree in health sciences.
“I believe my role as a provider is to empower patients with the knowledge and tools they need to make informed decisions about their own health,” Joyce said. “I strive to have open and honest communication with all of my patients, allowing for shared decision making that is tailored to the patient’s individual lifestyle, values, and goals.”
Before joining Capital Digestive Care, she performed diagnostic workups and suggested treatment plans for a wide range of GI conditions, including chronic diarrhea and constipation, IBS, inflammatory bowel disease, celiac disease, GERD, hepatobiliary disorders, pancreatic disorders, and anemia in the outpatient and inpatient setting at Duke.
In her free time, she loves to go to the gym, try new restaurants, watch movies, and spend time with her two cats.
