Capital Digestive Care is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Joseph Clinton to our Columbia and Laurel, MD offices.
Dr. Clinton first became fascinated with the body’s amazing ability to heal when he broke his leg four separate times as a child. He was naturally drawn to medicine, as it is a field of constant learning, discovery, and problem solving. He also wanted a career that involved working with people and helping to improve their lives.
Today, he is a board-certified, fellowship-trained gastroenterologist who enjoys getting to know patients deeply personal level and seeks to provide a source of comfort in their lives. He has a particular interest in the following conditions and procedures:
- Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
- Crohn’s disease
- Ulcerative colitis
Dr. Clinton earned his undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Virginia and attended medical school at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in Richmond. He completed residency training in internal medicine at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and pursued further specialization with a fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at the University of Maryland Medical Center.
“My approach to patient care is to, most importantly, listen and empathize as best as possible,” he said. “Connecting with patients on a human level first is incredibly important and often guides me in treating their medical ailment as well.”
Before joining Capital Digestive Care, Dr. Clinton was a gastroenterology and hepatology fellow at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, where he served as chief fellow and won the GI teaching award twice during fellowship. He has authored over 10 publications in the field and presented over 10 abstracts at national conferences.
