Capital Digestive Care is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Eric Margulies to our Germantown, Olney, and Rockville, MD offices.
Dr. Margulies first became interested in medicine while he was volunteering with wounded warriors at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, where he saw the profound impact that physicians could have on their patients. Today, he finds it fulfilling and rewarding to work in partnership with patients to provide exemplary care in the community where he grew up.
He is a fellowship-trained gastroenterologist who has a particular interest in the following conditions and procedures:
- General gastroenterology (GI) care
- Disorders of the esophagus
- Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
- Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
- Liver disease
- Constipation
- Colon cancer prevention, including screening and surveillance colonoscopies
Dr. Margulies earned his undergraduate degree in biology at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA, graduating summa cum laude. He attended medical school at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, followed by residency training in internal medicine at the University of Virginia. He pursued further specialization with a fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX.
“I take a comprehensive, patient-centered approach to GI care by striving to understand each patient’s individual experiences, health background, and goals,” he said. “I believe that effective care requires a well-rounded approach, as GI conditions can be influenced by a variety of factors.”
Before joining Capital Digestive Care, Dr. Margulies was a gastroenterology and hepatology fellow at the University of Texas Medical Branch, where he served as chief fellow in his final year. While there, he also received multiple awards for outstanding professionalism, as well as recognition for excellence in teaching medical students.
