Nabil Ashraf, MD


Nabil Ashraf, MD specializes in pathology and cytopathology. He attended medical school at St George’s University in Grenada, West Indies. He completed his residency and a fellowship at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System in Richmond, Virginia. Prior to joining Capital Digestive Care, he was an instructor and lecturer in VCU’s Department of Pathology.

​Dr. Ashraf initially pursued a career in the tech field, but eventually found that medicine and ultimately anatomic pathology was his true passion. The challenge of producing a diagnosis by combining microscopic investigations, clinical findings, and laboratory results is what he enjoys most. In addition, he finds it rewarding that his expertise plays an important role influencing patient care and management.

Dr. Ashraf is a member of several professional organizations including the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, the College of American Pathologists, the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, and the American Society of Cytopathology. In his spare time, he enjoys travel, sports and outdoor activities.
