Colleen Kennedy-Smith graduated from Indiana University School of Nursing in 1989. She began her nursing career as a Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at Indiana University Hospital in 1990, followed by working at the Johns Hopkins Hospital 1991-1993 and at the University of Kentucky Hospital 1993-1996. She received a Master of Science in Nursing and was certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 1996. Colleen was initially employed as a Nurse Practitioner at Suburban Hospital 1996 and then worked in primary care in Rockville, MD 1997-2001. Colleen has been a member of our Digestive Disease Consultants team since 2005, further advancing her career by specializing in gastroenterology. Colleen assesses, diagnoses and treats patients with acute and chronic digestive disorders with special interest in inflammatory bowel disease and hepatitis.
