The American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), has recognized Urbana GI Endoscopy Center and its physicians and healthcare professionals as part of its program dedicated to promoting high standards in endoscopy. ASGE has granted the Urbana GI Endoscopy Center its Endoscopy Unit Recognition Program (EURP) certificate.

The EURP honors providers who have demonstrated a commitment to patient safety and quality in areas such as quality assurance, infection control, and staff competency. Upon completion of the program, the certificate is granted for a three-year renewable period.

Endoscopy is performed by specially-trained physicians with state-of-the-art technology to diagnose and treat diseases of the digestive tract. Using flexible, thin tubes fitted with high-intensity lighting, endoscopists are able to view the gastrointestinal system through natural orifices without making incisions. The Urbana GI Endoscopy Center and its Capital Digestive Care physicians, Dr. Mark Birns, Dr. Mark Gloger, Dr. Victor Witten and Dr. Faisal Bhinder, join more than 400 endoscopy units to be granted the EURP since 2009.
