Digestive Health Information

Most of us think of our stomach or bowel when we hear the term “digestive health” but did you know your digestive system begins in your mouth and encompasses a number of organs working together to help your body break down the foods you eat and absorb nutrients? Food begins to be broken down by the saliva in your mouth before it is moved down the esophagus and through the stomach, small intestine, large intestine (the colon) and rectum, finally exiting the body as waste. Along the way, your gallbladder, pancreas and liver all play critical roles in this process.
