A native Washingtonian, Michael Keegan, MD attended Georgetown Preparatory School and Georgetown University. He received his Doctor of Medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston in 1976, followed by an internship and residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Gastroenterology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He then served on active duty in the U.S. Army as an attending physician at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center.
Dr. Keegan has been in private practice in Washington, D.C. since 1984. He is an active member of the local and medical community through the American Gastroenterological Association, American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, Christian Medical and Dental Association, Archdiocesan Health Care Network and The John Carroll Society. Each year since 1997, Dr. Keegan has traveled to a small community in the Dominican Republic with Somos Amigos Medical Missions.
Dr. Keegan and his wife (a 2nd grade teacher) have two grown sons. He enjoys golf, other outdoor activities, photography, and spending time with his family.
